GROUP PROJECT: WEBSITE IDEAS

We have been given the brief for our new collaborative project and we have been placed in a different groups to create a website. In a first meeting with groups, we decided to create  Art Gallery Website. Our plan was going to the bournemouth museum and take some pictures of art pictures and put it in our website with all the informations. So we tried to draw the basic of our website on a paper first and then decide about design.

So we decided to create our home page like this picture. On the top is our title  and then put few random pictures from the gallery with different sizes and then information. But we are not sure to create it exactly like this picture in future and we still thinking about it.

Web Site : Name

We started to create our website few days ago. So I had a meeting with my group mates and we decided to create website about art pictures. This is just an idea that we decided together and we need to discuss about how to create it, about design and etc. The first important thing that we come up before creating the website is the name of that website.  After looking through website and different word generation, we decided to choose a name which is link to arts. We were looking for a word that we could use it as a title to makes it clear what our website is about.  So after looking and searching we decided to name our website Easel. Its a name which is fired very well and all of us agreed about it.

Contrast – Academic paper vs review: Age Of Empires

Multiplayers Online playing game is a way that people from all over the world, trading, chatting or fighting together. Age of Empire is one of the game in this world that people start to creating a civilization for them selves and trying to becoming a big empire to fight with the others.

The Academy allows the player to train elite infantry units: the Hoplide, Phalanx, and Centurion. They are fairly expensive, but worth their cost as they form a solid core with which to assault an enemy settlement.  Researching Architecture in the government center increases the points and decreases construction time. The Academy is available from Bronze age onwards. Persians are the only civilization that cannot train units from the Academy.

The game based on three chapters cover the neo-Assyrian Empire from 934 to 610 BCE, looking at political history, military and imperial organisation, and the court political system. Three chapters cover Babylonia from 900 to 539 BCE, looking at politics, economic and social life, and religion and scribal culture. And two chapters cover the satrapy of Babylonia under the Achaemenids and Seleucids. This material gives an outline of the political and military history, the apparatus of imperial rule, and the life and economics of the great religious sanctuaries. It also reveals something of urban life, especially in Babylonia, and of the religious and scholarly cultural traditions that continued throughout the period.

The academic paper comply with the fact and characteristic of the game in real life.  like there is no like or dislike about the games. in academic paper, They describing a game with all the details and information.

The review is about the opinion of players about the game. for example, for the review of the game we can go to the main website of the game and see how people react about the game. Usually for review some websites put the star ranks from 1-5 stars and then players can vote for game.

As always there are some positive points and negative points in Review and Academic paper. But the point is in academic paper they are always talks about the game details and there is no opinion about the game. Review is based on opinion of players that they played the game and then they just put some comments or describing a game from their own point of view.

DESIGN FOR DIGITAL MEDIA ENVIRONMENT: HOMEWORK

After the lecture, Rob asked us to upload one things in wiki. Photo,Video or Diagram. Upload something is open street map or a reading list to zotero. First I did open street map because I was interested to do it.

The good point of this website is, they allow you to upload any picture that you want and publish it online. Even you can choose that how you want other people use your images for editing or using it on their own websites. This website help people to start their own job because most of the pictures are free to use.

In open street map, I added some new shops and bars in Charminester road. The place that I’m living for a moment.

The good advantage of this website is you can upload about any shops there. Because in Google Map some of the shops are old or for instance they changed their logo sign or etc. So we can update it every day. But the problem is we can’t be sure about the informations always because anyone can post on the site, so it can be wrong or not complete.

DESIGN FOR DIGITAL MEDIA ENVIRONMENTS – uploading to UGC (part 1)

Wikimedia is kind of different from other websites to upload videos. Wikimedia accepts and encourages uploading video files on Commons. As an example the image that we going to use must be freely licensed. We can’t just download the image from Google or other sources and just upload it. On the other hand, the video that we should format is better to be WebM or also OGV could work as well.

User Generated Content (UGC) is re-shaping the way people watch video and TV, with millions of video producers and consumers. In particular, UGC sites are creating new viewing patterns and social interactions, empowering users to be more creative, and developing new business opportunities. To better understand the impact of UGC systems, we have analyzed YouTube, the world’s largest UGC VoD system.

Final Work (Developing Relalisation)

In order to conduct this survey first,I listed the name of the countries all over Europe, and then I tried to find the popular singers and music stars in these countries. In each country the names of stars are written from the most popular to the least popular. All my information is taken from two web sites that are cited in the reference section. Then I tried to find out what genre in music they are famous for. Therefore there is a list of different genres of music ranging from most famous to the least famous in a continuum. But showing this information in a continuum is likely to be boring and time-consuming. Then there a question was raised in my mind: “How this information can be shown to the reader or audience so that It can be appealing and charming and therefore much more influential?”   Nowadays a lot of efforts in different fields of study are made to make the addresses interested by using various methods. Methods spring from ideas and ideas must be fresh and original. Therefore old and repetitive themes and methods are not eye-catching and appealing, unless they are proven to be efficient for different generations in long periods of time. On the other hand, new works have to be informative in a sense that they can teach a great deal of information about a special topic in any field e.g. biology, human science ,etc in a short period of time. One of the ways of transferring a great deal of information is by showing a picture. Psychologists believe that human mind has a very powerful pictorial memory; this is based on the theory of dual coding of human mind proposed by Paivio. There are two systems for mental representation of human mind; one of them is Logogens – Verbal symbol system for coding (representation) of knowledge in at least three senses and another one is Imagens – Non-verbal symbol system for storing of knowledge in probably all five senses. I, here, have tried to use images and pictures. This picture can be a familiar and relative picture. Thus what first came to my mind was the map of Europe. In order to present the popular music through Europe, I have tried to come up with a creative and functional idea. Creative in a way that is interesting for the enthusiastic students, scholars and others; functional in a way that can show and thus transfer noticeable amount of information in a short glimpse. The map I have designed shows the countries all over Europe divided by their map colors. Maps are drawn in their flags’ color, that is to say for example Germany is shown in red, yellow and black. In each map the different popular music genres in different countries are written in maps according to their frequency in audience. In other words, the popular genres are written from the most famous-the largest font size- to the least famous-the smallest font size. The maps are not merely drawn but they are designed with words.  As an example some countries are taken: If we look at the map of France, we will see in its three color (blue, white, red) map that “pop” is the largest font, so it is the most popular genre and metal is the least popular because it is written in the smallest font size. Other genres like “Rock”, “Rap” ,”R&B” , “Classical” ,etc are in between i.e. they attract listeners in high quantity but not the highest quantity.  The same story goes with Germany ;the most famous is “Pop” and the least famous are “Metal”, “Soul” and “Country “;others are ranged in the middle. But it is different in countries like whose tops are “Rock”, “flamingo” and “Hip Hop”. The least famous are “metal”,”opera” and “R & B”. In England “pop” is the lead and “house” doesn’t seem to attract much attention. By having a brief look at all the countries a keen student will know that what is now popular in Europe is “pop“. “Metal” and “heavy metal” are classified in the groups of the least popularity.

The last thing to add, as you see from the previous post, my background was withe but because of some countries like France or UK I changed the background to light gray. Because they have withe color in their flags and it wasn’t look nice.

Here is the PDF format of my poster that you can see it in a better quality :

Photos And Color ( Developing and Realisation )

People in different countries seem to have different tastes in art. For example if you ask a person in Netherlands that what kind music he listens to, he might answer like this:“I prefer easy listening and catchy tunes”.But if you repeat the same question to the same class-type of citizen in different country like Britain, you may here:“I prefer haunting melodies”

This matter of taste is not only for art of music, but it also can be applied to other types of art such as literature. Popular genres differ from time to time and land to land. The reason for this can be difference in people’s attitude towards politics, culture etc, or even geographical features. This is not what is going to be discussed here; What I have tried to do is not about “why” but it’s about “what” is popular in different countries.

Here is 1/3 of my poster that I’m trying to finish. At first I decided to create my map in black and white. But after I did it i was regret because it didn’t look good and nice. Also in black and white I couldn’t recognize what country is that. After I talked with my family and friends, they gave me a good suggestion that I can use the flags of the countries instead of being black and withe. So I used the images and by clipping mask technique in illustrator and changing a little color of flags, it looks perfect from my idea.
